By measuring ground temperatures in boreholes, such as at this mountain site near Burwash Landing, Yukon (TOP), scientists are tracking the effects of climate change on permafrost. The exposed ice cores of seasonal frost mounds by the Dempster Highway (BOTTOM) illustrate the potential for disturbance in permafrost terrain.
